If there is one thing I hope and pray for every day it is: BOLDNESS. Ephesians 3:12 says, "In whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him." We already HAVE boldness within us... if only we would press into and access with confidence through faith! What a simple yet profound truth! I have to be completely honest, most of the time I simply do not feel bold or confident. I then fight my hardest to find a counterfeit type of assurance in myself that inevitably fails...leaving me restless and confused. But to realize this hidden treasure has already been embedded within me...WOW! I imagine it is like Princess Anastiasia of Russia coming to the epiphany after all those years that she is in fact, a royal princess! And for us, the key to accessing our inherent boldness is FAITH. Faith that the Spirit of God is alive and powerfully working in and through you; sustaining you in joy and strength to move forward with complete confidence! All that said, you must be wondering what in the heck this has to do with fashion? Well, thank you so very much for asking! Let me tell you...

When I began working in the fashion industry after college, I was exposed to many brands that were described as minimalist, meaning: a style or technique that is characterized by extreme spareness and simplicity. A few examples of brands like this are Céline and The Row. As I began to watch others around me ooh and ahh in approval over simplicity in style, and witnessed how most of the people around me embraced minimalism so well, I began to feel pressured to mimic in order to fit in.

See for those that do not know me, my style is very much a statement. I know the traditional fashion  rule is typically to wear no more that one statement piece. Well, I have always struggled with that as I find myself drawn to mixing and matching multiple standout pieces and quite enjoying the artistic clash of it all. (My favorite type of statement being metallics; I feel like there is something about the shimmer of it that wakes me up like no shot of espresso can!)

But there I was, forcing my square peg into a round hole and compromising my personal style for, let's be honest, the approval of others. Don't get me wrong, I think minimalism in style is lovely, it just isn't well, me. After a few years of pretending, I couldn't take it any longer. I decided to choose and pave my own unique style and if that meant it would be littered with metallics, then so be it! So I strongly encourage you to really open up and enjoy the process of finding and growing with your style, whatever that may look like! Fashion should be FUN and FOR THE FEARLESS. So reclaim that BOLDNESS my loves! The key is already handed to you. All you have to do is choose to open the door...
