FOURTH OF JULY: FIRECRACKER BERRY FROZEN YOGURT POPS
One of our favorite summer holidays is just around the corner... Fourth of July! The countdown is on to celebrate our amazing country and the inspiring heroes who fought and continue fighting for our freedom. Along with the traditional adorable July Fourth red + white + blue attires, another of the many reasons we love this holiday are the barbeques and snacks! For those looking to cool down on a hot summer day with a festive holiday treat, we have the perfect recipe for you! Featuring The Comfort of Cooking, a foodie blogger on our current obsessions list, the Firecracker Berry Frozen Yogurt Pops are sure to be a main attraction at your party this Fourth!
1/2 pound strawberries, hulled and quartered (1 1/2 cups)
1/2 pound blueberries (1 1/2 cups)
1 1/4 cups low-fat plain yogurt
2 Tablespoons granulated sugar
In a food processor, puree strawberries and blueberries separately, adding each pureed fruit to a separate small bowl. In another small bowl, whisk together yogurt and sugar. Pour the 3 mixtures, alternating, into ten 3-ounce ice-pop molds, making 3 to 5 layers in each. With a skewer or thin-bladed knife, swirl mixtures together in an up-and-down motion. Insert ice-pop sticks and freeze until solid, 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
